Since 1971, UEFA has sponsored the UEFA Europa League, a club football competition open to all qualifying European football clubs. After the UEFA Champions League, it is the second-most prestigious club competition in Europe. Based on their results in their respective national leagues and cup competitions, clubs earn a spot in the competition.

48 clubs compete in the Europa League, 24 of which start in the group stage. The competition lasts eight rounds and ends with the final. The UEFA Europa League champion earns a spot in the UEFA Champions League the following year.

24 clubs, split into four groups of six, compete in the UEFA Europa League group stage. The top two teams from each group advance to the knockout stage and face each other home and away throughout the group stage.

16 clubs compete in the UEFA Europa League knockout stage, with each round being split into two legs. The first and second legs are played on Thursday and Tuesday, respectively. Winners of the knockout round proceed to the championship game.

The UEFA Europa League champion earns a spot in the UEFA Champions League the following year.

Teams from all over Europe compete in the Europa League, a football tournament. After the Champions League, the competition is the second-tier European club football tournament put on by UEFA.

The following is how the Europa League prize money is divided: Each club received €2.1 million during the group stage, €3.5 million during the round of 32, and €4.5 million during the round of 16. Each club will receive €5.5 million in the quarterfinals, €6.5 million in the semifinals, and €9 million in the championship.
